Where can I apply for a new passport or a passport renewal?

Go to the main Post Office at 1207 Sawmill Creek for an application for a new passport or a renewal. Check the date on your passport. It is easier to renew then to reapply.

Come to the Sitka LIO at 201 Katlian Street, Suite 200A and fill out a Social Security application for either a new or replacement card. You will have to send an original piece of identification with that application to the Juneau Social Security office. They will no longer accept xerox copies. It may take one to several weeks for you to receive your social security card, but just a few days for the return of your identification.

Go to http://www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/pub/landlord.pdf to preview the Landlord/Tenant Booklet. If you do not have access to a computer, come to the Sitka LIO at 201 Katlian Street, Suite 200A to review the Landlord Tenant Booklet on our computer or you may ask for a printed copy. If you still have questions about your situation, you may need to consult a lawyer. Depending on your financial situation, Alaska Legal Services Corp. may be of assistance.

Go to http://www.pfd.state.ak.us and click on Check your PFD Application Status.
Fill in the Dividend Year, your social security number, your first and last name, your date of birth, and click on Status of Applicant. The next screen will let you know if your application has been approved or in review. If it is in review and you have not received a letter asking for more information, call the PFD Office at 1-800-733-8813. If you prefer you may come into the Sitka LIO at 201 Katlian Street, Suite 200A and we will fax an inquiry to the PFD Dividend Information Office for you.

Where can I register to vote or change my address on the voters' register?

Go to the Sitka LIO office at 201 Katlian Street, Suite 200A, the Kettleson Library downtown Sitka, or the City of Sitka offices on Lincoln Street for a Voter's Registration or Change of Address form. Be sure to register 30 days prior to voting day to be eligible to vote.

How can I get a business license from the State of Alaska?

You may purchase a business licence online at http://www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/buslic.htm. if you do not have access to a computer, you may come into the Sitka LIO office at 201 Katlian Street, Suite 200A and we will do it for you. You must have a credit card to purchase your business license online. If you prefer, the Sitka LIO can provide an application and you may send it with a check for $100 for one year, or $200 for two years. You may want to go to the State's web page for access to other small business licenses and permits at http://www.dced.state.ak.us/cbd/smallbus/home.htm.

Where can I obtain Federal Income Tax Forms?

The Sitka LIO office does not carry Federal Income Tax forms. You may go to the Kettleson Library or to several tax preparer's in Sitka that provide forms to the public. If you have access to the internet go to: http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/index.html Note: Not all forms are accepted when printed from a computer.
