Kuspuks are the traditional dress of many parts of Alaska. The Capitol tradition of wearing kuspuks on Fridays started with Representative Mary Sattler (was Kapsner & Nelson as well when she was in office). Sen. Georgianna Lincoln was also pivotal in launching this iteration of casual Friday. Originally, Kuspuk Fridays were 'Kuspuks for Katie' as an homage to a former staffer who had lost a battle with cancer. Today, the tradition continues, honoring our mutual and unique Alaskan heritage.
